Painting #1 Crystal/glass beads, steel wire, wood,
paint
Collection of the Artist
©2000 by Bill & Clarissa Hudson
When we finished making our two large beaded public art pieces
in 1998, we had thousands of Czech fire-polished glass beads left
over. We carted them back to Colorado, first to Pagosa Springs,
then to Paonia when we moved there, then back to Pagosa. They
were heavy boxes, dang it, and we were tired of packing them around!
One day, Clarissa had a great idea. Why not make a piece for
ourselves? (We don't often do that kind of thing...)
I made the support boards while Clarissa drew out the pattern.
When we finished stringing the beads, we hung the piece in one of
the windows in Clarissa's studio. (You can barely see the
window frames in the photo.) The piece is especially stunning
when the morning sun comes through the window, or by the light of
the full moon. |
